Approaches to Digital Recording
In
some cases the connection from the switch to the extension
cannot be directly recorded.
The protocols used for these connections depend on
the make and the model of the PABX.
ATIS offers solutions for most of the phone systems
in use today.

ISDN
Installations
ATIS is well
known for the capability of directly recording ISDN phone sets.
The ATIS ISDN recording module, integral part of the recorder
itself, captures not only the audio but also the call related
data. (Called number, calling number, etc.)
Each module accepts four ISDN phone sets that equal eight
possible phone lines. A
system enclosure can accept eight modules connecting 32 ISDN
phones to the recorder.

Digital
Trunk Installations
If your PABX is
connected to the phone company via a T1 line and recording of
the T1 is desired the following needs to be considered: A T1
line carries up to 24 calls (like 24 analog trunks) that are
assigned on a first availability basis. All calls into and out
of the PABX are recorded but the extensions making or receiving
the call can only be identified if some kind of computer
telephony integration is used. For example: if your PABX has 100
extensions with one T1 connected to the phone company, an ATIS
recorder equipped with one T1 recording module would be
sufficient for all 100 extensions. (An economical solution.)
Without additional data provided by the PABX through CTI or SMDR
– substantially increasing costs- it is somewhat time
consuming to find a call involving a certain extension. Only the
time and date could serve as a reference to find the call in a
pool of thousands of calls.
ATIS offers a wide variety of computer telephony
integration for recording purposes.
